Braving the shave...

My DDiL braved the shave last week, along with countless others no doubt. She went from almost waist length hair to a very short crew cut (a number 1 I think on the shears).

She was raising funds for Macmillan who nursed her father before he died earlier this year. She wanted to raise £1000 but raised 2 1/2 times that amount including gift aid.

Well done darling!

We had our first light frost last night, -1.5C. Slightly warmer nights though for this week predicted.

  1. Well done to your daughter in law, a brilliant effort. She'll notice the cold for a while!

  2. Well done to your DDiL-it's such a truly selfless gesture to lose that amount of hair in order to raise much needed funding. What a lovely way to honour her father. Was the hair used to provide wigs? My daughter recently had many inches cut off her hair but not sutable for wigs a she colours it. Catriona

    1. Also dyed so couldn’t be used. Her workplace filmed her having it done, very brave.

  3. What a brilliant thing to do! And, what a huge amount to have raised. Well done to her. (Probably adding a hat to her Christmas list?) Although a big change for her, I bet she feels liberated to be free of all that hair.

  4. You must be very proud of her- and what a great achievement. Particularly brave to do this as the weather turns so cold- I hope she has been given a cosy woolly hat to wear!! I cannot speak highly enough of the Macmillan charity- my experience of their work for friends and family has been so positive.
